Double whammy of bluesy/souly mashedit thingies

My sources1 tell me that there are two great little reworks of bluesy soul things floating around this week.

The Reflex brings us a fairly subtle rerub of B. B. King’s The Thrill is Gone, just adding some “hip hop bounce”:

You can pick up the full version of their Bandcamp for a buck fiddy. I have done.

Secondly, and a bit more involved, we have a mashup of Kayne Kanye’s Gold Digger and Chiddy Bang by Ray Charles. It is most definitely not rubbish:

This is from Bavaria’s own Mash Mike.

Enjoy!

DJ Prince – a northern soul

I’ve just found out about a guy called DJ Prince. He seems to be a big deal in his native Norway but this is the first I’ve heard of him – no surprises there then. His SoundCloud has some great reworks and mashups so I’ve helped myself. It’s pretty dancefloor friendly and some of it is straight out clubcheese so have a root around and see what takes your fancy.

Thanks Mr. Prince!

Bangers and mashup

I can’t have coined that title but it’ll do.

This is a pretty lovely little mashup of Grizzly Bear’s advert-friendly Two Weeks and Biz Markie’s “one hit” (?!) Just a Friend.

I’m not sure if it improves on either but it’s fun enough. Thanks to Alexandre Wallace of Halifax, Canada for that one!
